My computer was completely freezing yesterday. I would have to turn it off and back on. It would work for a few minutes then do it again. I thought it was my my hard drive. I formatted my drive and re-installed windows. It froze up several times during installation. I had to restart it, then finally it finished and I was updating windows when it froze again. That was the last time my computer worked. I turned it off and turned it on, and now nothing comes on the screen. It doesn't even get to the boot screen for my to check my bios settings. I am wondering if anyone might know what could be causing this.

Also, the HDD light comes on and stays on. But I do get the fans and case lights. The CPU fan is working, and the heatsink is mounted properly

Try replacing both the battery on the motherboard and try a new power supply. You have eliminated everything else. One thing I would do also is unplug every device you do not need, CD, CDRW and see if it will boot, just to eliminate any bad power connection. One last thing, after reconnecting the CD try to boot just to the Windows Disc (sounds like you may have already tried it).
Lastely, try resetting the BIOS by putting the jumpers in to reset mode, this may clear any problem the BIOS may be seeing.

you have a virus that i usually call sypher and the best way I've deal with it the 70 times i had to before i got it right. just keep turning it on with the windows CD in your driver. once it get to the point where you can reinstall windows, do so but don't update the same virus you already have. you should get a option to reinstall windows on top of it self (the computer will say something about over writing a parcel and make sure you select the no changes option, this way your only changing windows, do it). your only dilemma after that should be reinstalling all your program, they'll be on your computer and you'll still have all your work but the programs themselves will need updating. Plus try to figure out how to get Mcafee it should keep the problem from reoccurring.

It could be anything. Most motherboard beep when the boot up to indicate various things, such as video card recognized, etc. If you're not getting anything except fan noise and no drive lights blinking, you may have a CPU or mother board problem. Really hard to tell without some troubleshooting.

If you were having freeze up problems, that may have been caused by the processor overheating or the power supply. Since the PC is now not displaying anything, I suspect that you have a hardware issue with the power supply/processor/or system board.
You are probably going to need some professional or experienced help with the issue.

well i recommend you to do following in that order-
1.take out the battrey and try to boot. in case it does - u know where is the fault
2.take out all plug n play devices from the mother board - your graphics card, modem etc. sometimes dust on their connectors can cause them to interrupt system. try to boot without them.
3. take out RAm wipe it them put back in
in none of these work
change the SMPS - power supply - IT will work.

What you should do is to buy another Computer, because I don't know what is causing your computer to freeze and do things that it should not be doing okay.
