Okay here's how you measure:

1. To find your bra size
Measure in inches directly under the breasts ensuring the tape is firm and level across your back. If the number is even add 4", if odd add 5"

2. To find your cup size
Measure around the fullest part of your bust, making sure the tape is level across your back. The difference between your bra size and your full bust measurement is your cup size.

Same as bra size = A cup
1" more = B cup
2" more = C cup etc.

Example:
Measurement (1) is 31" plus 5" = 36 bra size
Measurement (2) is 38" (ie a 2" difference) = C cup
Your correct bra size is a 36C

Also, most department stores have a bra measuring service in their lingerie department.

Go to a Bra shop and get a professional fitter to help you...then say you're interested in possibly buying a bra (ask what size you are at the same time) but then get someone to call you on your phone and pretend there is an emergency you need to attend to so you have a reason to rush off.

You need to measure under your bust for the bra size. Then measure round your bust at the fullest part. Every inch will be a cup size. So if the difference between under the bust and around the bust was 2 inches, you will need a B cup.

Hope this helps.

To measure all you have to do is get a tape measure and wrap it right below your bust. That will tell you how many inches around you are (example- 36 inches= 36 size bra). Now the letter is what size cup. Try them on and see which one fits you the best.

Go to any good department store, and in their Lingerie section they will always have a trained bra fitter.
They will be able to measure you up, and help you decide on the most flattering style bra.

Don't worry, they are very proffessional and discreet.

From experience, I would recommend Marks & Spencers.
(they also have a lovely selection of affordable undies.....bonus !)

John Lewis and mothercare will measure your bra cup and your chest size.
There is also a web shop for "fitted bras" so its worth a search.
