Thats like asking which is your favorite child! I love all trees in the right places. (You don't want a full size pine's roots growing into your foundation, or a clump of paper birch dropping seedy messes over your driveway.)
Fruit trees (especially apple and cherry) are my if-I-only-had-to-pick-one choice. They produce beautiful flowers in the spring, when everyone needs a lift, better tasting fruit than anything you will ever get in the store, food, shelter and shade for birds and other wildlife, the pruned branches produce sweet aromatic smoke for BBQ grills, and even after their lives are over, they produce good strong wood for furniture or sweet smelling firewood for warmth!

Weeping willow, even though they make a mess with their leaves. Also flowering trees (magnolia, apple, orange, crab, etc.) Japanese Maples, Weeping Cherries, Sugar Maples (gorgeous in the fall), Concolor and Fraser Firs, and Silver Birches (aka Paper Bark Birches).

Magnolia! They make a mess when they shed their bloom in the spring and again in the fall when they drop their leaves, but the one I have just outside my back door is breath taking when it blooms.
