There were still 3 way tie posibilities, and then they would go to goal differential. So technically they could have been knocked out still

And stop. At which point before this, how, what, when, where, and why did anything like "before ecuador match against costa-rica, why german cannot be considered qualified though already 6 points?" YOUR AT IT.. Your talking about the host nation. RTFM before you go any further. The rest is simple. Winning is everything! So before you crack on with the who, what, when, where, what if, asuming, could have, might, should have and why remind yourself of the Second round. Germany will qualify. OH and that reminds me, the team that comes second in group A plays the team that comes top of group B. Allez Klar.

Both Germany and Costa Rica have qualified in their group with 6 points each. (The first 2 teams in each group go through to the 2nd round). However, it is still not clear who they will play in the 2nd round. It all depends on this next match to decide who they will play. Which ever team that comes first in the group will play England. I'm not sure who the the 2nd team will play. I'm rooting for Costa Rica because I'm an England fan. And England have a better chance against Costa Rica than Germany.

If Costa Rica had beaten Ecuador and then also beaten Poland, and Ecuador had beaten Germany, then three teams (CR/Ger/Ecu) would have had 6 points from which only 2 could qualify. Irrelevant now, though
