Without significant psychological intervention, serial killers cannot change their behaviors and successfully resocialize. I also think that many times, mental illness plays a role in these peoples' lives. This being said, perhaps psychosomatic drugs would help- but this form of treatment is rather temporary if administered by the individual themselves. I do not think that the Columbian government should readmit that serial killer into thier country. It is likely, that a man who has abused and killed that many children will never be fully ready to reenter society. I am pretty sure that the Columbian legal system does not have much remediation and treatment for mental illness in their jail system and fear for the lives of the countrymen if he is let out.

That makes me sick as a mother of 3 grown children and a grandmother I don't think anybody like that can go back into the public. Even if they neuter him it's still in his blood They say when your a alcoholic your always one So it should be the same way with serial killers or rapist

If they would execute him-then this question would not come up. People like that must be killed-that's the only way.
In the United States we started trying to rehabilitate people like that and they always revert to killing and abusing again. At least half of the violent crimes in this country are committed by persons who should have been already executed for past crimes. Rehab does not work with these people.

I think anybody can change. But it has to come from with in, I mean in the heart. They have to believe what they did was wrong and feel bad about it, more like feel horrible about it, and they can never do it again.

When it comes to this man you are speaking of. He may of really changed, but he still needs to pay for the crime he did. Just because he has changed his ways does not excuse what he has already done. If he has truly changed then he would know that he was wrong and would except his punishment.

No, I don't think serial killers can be "fixed". I think it takes an incredibly twisted person to prey on other humans. That guy sounds like he just needs to be locked away for life to protect other children from harm.

I do not believe that it is possible for a serial killer to change, because almost all serial killers have a personality disorder such as antisocial personality, and you cannot change a personality disorder.

OMG....absolutely not! I don't think anything can change the mind of a serial killer. Why in the world would they even think to let this man free? He's bound to do it again!

WHAT....the government there thinks he can get out and be a "normal" person again. Wow....

NO, personally I don't think someone that evil can change, I truly don't.

That man in Columbia, as well as all OTHER serial killers should face the death penalty - it's as simple as that.

Anything is possible; however, in the case of serial killers, who almost unilaterally have serious mental defects, the damage is often too much to be undone.

No f******ing way!!! I thought the US was bad - letting child molesters out just so they can re-offend or kill. What is going on in this world? Have the judge's not learned anything yet?? Obviously this guy is nuts. It angers me when I see any of them "smirk" like they are getting away with everything.
