I have a Suzuki Sidekick that has "fried" the head. Would like to know what other car engines would fit. I know that the Geo Tracker engine is the same, but what about other cars? Currently has 1.6 liter engine,- but anything that will bolt up and work without major modifications would be fine (even smaller engine)! This is a standard transmission, 4wd model. Don't know if the automatic engine would work by changing flywheel (like most american engines) or not. Last guy took head off and lost it, so don't know if engine block is still good or not. Otherwise maybe a good head would do the job. Got used engine quotes on internet, but the engines would cost twice as much as the car is worth!! I am an old mechanic (ret) with 50+ years foreign and domestic exp. So can probably do minor changes without much trouble! I will then try to pick up a wreck that has right engine, and fix mine!!

Suzuki 1.6 litre engines and 1.3 litre engines are almost identical. you can get a doner engine from a chevy tracker , a geo tracker , a pontiac asuna , Suzuki sidekick . They are the same . This engine came 2 wayseither 8 valve or 16 valve , both engines are pretty much interchangable bolt ins. But I would stick with the Model the truck came with, it should say somewhere under the hood which engine it was. Yes an auto engine will fit ,stick or auto doesnt really matter.the computer was different but the engines will interchange. You will need to swap flywheels. If the head has been off this engine for a while Idon't think I would use it unless the bores looked real good and it was not seized. I have an engine if you need it,it had about 86,000 km on it when i pulled it to use in my offroad truck as a spare but never used it , it is a long block assembly ,block and head ,8 valve, fuel injected ,1990 automatic. Do you have the fuel injection unit or was that lost with the head?
