Starts from the 1st day of Last Menstrual Cycle and not the day of ovulation.
This helps to date the pregnancy more accurately as most women are unaware of their ovulation date.

From the first day of your last period. Then to work out your due date add on seven days from the first date of your last period and count on nine months, this will give you the date your baby is due!

They calculate it both ways...the ways you just mentioned. I think most doctors calculate from the first day of your last period. That's why *technically* you're pregnant for 9 1/2 months. :)

from your last period.
there is no true way to tell when exactly you ovulate, so it's from your last period.

they used my last period even though i knew the exact day that i conceived. that's why i'm pretty sure my due date will be about a week later than what the dr. said;)

most doctors calculate it from the FIRST DAY OF YOUR LAST PERIOD! 40 weeks

unless you can exactly pinpoint your ovulation, then you can count it from there! 38 weeks

I think it is the last day, but it does not really matter which, your talking days which don't make a lot of difference when you are looking at 40 weeks (or 38,39,41,42...)
