A dog is more loving than a cat.
"Needy"? If you want to call it that.
A cat only seems to pay attention to you when it needs something for itself - food, water, go outside, whatever.
A dog looks up to you with complete focus.
A cat - "Oh, you again".

Both. I love the differences between the two. The independence of cats, and the playful dependence of a dog. At the time, I have 2 dogs and would love to have a cat, but they freak over the neighbor's cat, and I am afraid it would be a recipe for disaster if I got one. Otherwise we would have both species here. I love 'em all!

It depends on your attitude .in case you are outgoing go for dog but if you are staying at home types then cat is the best option .cats are more faithful to homes rather than the person .it has been seen that cats usually stay at the house even if their master leaves the house.Dogs are gud stress busters and you don't have as many diseases as that with cat .If you have small kids at home don't ever go for cat ,they are good carriers of disease. as per my opinion I would suggest you dog.

I love my dogs...how often can you get your cat to run around the yard with you? Cats just wanna claw at you and bite...and it hurts.....dogs are just way more fun and outgoing...they have more of a personality than i've ever seen in a cat.

A dog the best because they actually act like they like you and are glad to see you when you get home, but I likes cats, too. They are low maintenance.

Cat - they are independant. So you can go away for days and leave them enough food, they only eat what they need. Dogs just eat everything as fast as possible.
Also less smelly, more hygenic, make less noise, dont need exercising, cuter, more intelligent, less agressive and a lot more cuddly.

dog for protection, but i have both cats and a dog and love all of them.
