Hi there,
I have a notebook that had the same symptoms. It was the cooling system. The CPU was getting overheated and on its attempt to save energy and heat it slowed down. Of course if I was pushing my computer too mcuh it was shutting down by itself. Maybe it is the same case.

You might have to many things runnin in ur back ground try turning things off u dont want or use heres how Click on the start button and select run.
In the text box type msconfig and click ok.
Once the window has loaded, click on the startup tab and uncheck programs you do not want to start up anymore. Also u might try cleaning out ur temp folder ur cache and ur prefetch folder! My suggestion is: open C(system drive):/windows/prefetch, delete all files (or at least those more than 3 weeks old), reboot. I recommended that you do this every month. Good luck!

You are probably loaded with spyware. Do this -
Download AVG anti Virus free here –
http://downloads-zdnet.com.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_2-10503939.html?tag=lst-0-2
Download Microsoft Defender free here - http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx
Download AdAware free here –
http://downloads-zdnet.com.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_2-10399602.html?tag=lst-0-1
With those three programs your computer will be pretty secure from viruses, ad ware, spyware & malware.

try remove unused program..
change your anti virus to 'low resources'..
last:
try re install your windows..
the most answer to why is: windows keep trash on drive and registry.. thats why you need regulary reinstalling windows to keep fresh and fast..
