i'm making my baby registry and i think i've covered a lot of the stuff i need, but i'm just curious what baby products you couldn't have lived without.
i have the basics, playard, nursery decor, bottles, diaper bags, baby bath stuff, etc....
i'm looking for products that may not seem like a basic, but you used all the time!!
thanks!

I am pregnant with my second child and I have a few friends that got a Bumbo seat that they all love. You can set the baby in this seat as soon as they can hold their head up. I heard it is great!!!
Also a cool mist humidifier, works wonders!

I heard Target even carries it now, I think you would like it.

Diaper pail, definitely. When you have some seriously stinky diapers, putting them in the kitchen trash is NOT an option. And who wants to take them all the way outside to the outside can? Especially if you have an infant to look after. :) I got a Diaper Genie. I had already registered for it (and my mom bought it) when my husband's aunt told us to get the Diaper Giant instead. Apparently it's much better than the Diaper Genie. I don't know...i'm pretty set with the Genie. :)
Also, stock up on Dreft (or some other baby detergent) as you'll probably be washing a lot of spitupy drooly clothes, tshirts, onesies, etc.
LOTS of bibs (and teething toys). You might not use them right away, but trust me...when your baby starts teething, s/he will saturate a bib in no time flat, and you'll have to change them frequently.
Swing. Buy a baby swing. The good ones can be a bit pricey, but I can guarantee the swing will save your sanity quite often. :) We have the Fischer Price Aquarium swing ($100 at Target) and both my boys LOVED the swing. Sometimes it was the only thing that would put them to sleep.

Dreft stain remover, saved a lot of sheets,. onesies and other clothes. Also, a bear with the heartbeat. My son is 2 and still sleeps with it on every night. I really soothes him.
Just an idea for you for the shower that worked wonders for me. I had a diaper raffle. Everyone that brought in a package of diapers got entered into a raffle for a Red Lobster gift cert. I spent $50 on a gift cert. and got about 20 packages of diapers. Between that and the ones that I had already bought, I did not have to buy any for over a year!. Just put a little card in your invites that state that you are going to have the raffle. Everybody brought a gift in addition to the diapers too. Good luck and I hope some of this helps! Congrats too!

Well, i'm not a mom, but hopefully a Dad will work. :)
Here are the things that i found useful-
-Baby Wipes Warmer (especially if you have a boy and don't like getting peed on)
- Gas Relief (this is a wonder drug! Anytime your baby is having gas problems, half an eyedropper full of this and in 1 minute they are better)
- Good finger nail clippers (not the cheap ones)
- and lots and lots of diapers :)
Hope that helps

You gotta have a diaper genie. You put the stinkies in this little container and they are dealt with until you take the trash out! Also, I had this rubber floor pad that goes under the baby's high chair, so when the baby makes a mess on the floor (and they will) all you do is wipe up the mess on the pad, and it keeps your floor/carpet clean. I really used the hell out of that.

I work at Babies 'R' Us in the Baby Gear Department. That includes Strollers, Travel Systems, Car Seats, Pack and Plays, Swings, Staitionary Entertainers/Walkers, Bouncers, High Chairs, Bassinets, Diapers, and Formula. If you tell me what you have on your registry already I would be glad to tell you if what you have is good or not, and how long you can use everything. if you would like my help feel free to email me at a_screamobassist@yahoo.com

One "basic" I would recommend is A&D ointment for diaper rashes. This is the only thing that worked for my daughter. Smear a little on, and her rash would be gone in less than a day. Most of the zinc oxide based ointments didn't work at all.
I would buy the bibs with a plastic lining on the back. I found that food/spit up/etc. just leaked through the all cloth ones, and stained her clothes anyways.
Also, I'd stock up on onesies and the little feety pyjamas. That's what they end up spending most of their time in (after they puke on the first five "cute outfits" you put on them that day).
Good luck! =)

You can never have enough diapers. A friend of mine got me a whole case of newborn diapers and it was by far the best gift I got. I never would have thought of it as a first time mother. Also you definetly need diaper rash creme called BOUDREAUX' BUTT PASTE. They sell it at Wal Mart, its a little more expensive but it is by far better than ALL other diaper rash cremes. Trust me its good stuff. Good luck and congratulations, be sure to enjoy every minute, they grow up quickly!

Definitely the basics, adding to that an aspirator (booger sucker). When they get congested they are miserable which in turn does the same to you. Saline solution (little noses is really good) to go with the aspirator. There is a bulb looking one that does a great job, it's blue with ridges (safety first brand). And of course a baby swing with toys that are on the sides as well as infront - improves motor skills because they arent always forced to look forward and helps them work and build up their neck muscles.
Stock up on Desitin (Diaper Rash) A+D Ointment is the best for everyday use, I used it on both of my kids, lots of pampers and wipes. Newborn diapers are cool that have the top sort of cut out half circle to not interfere with the umbilical cord. Oh yes, lots of receiving blankets and Swaddle thingamajigs (You wrap the baby in them nice and snug and they knock right out - sleep for hours) Best of Luck to you and your family. p.s. sign up with - Huggies, Pampers, Similac Club, Enfamil everyone whos anyone and get lots of coupons - they will come in very handy.
