Both of it. According to "karma" laws, what it happens to us now is the result of our past actions (from this live or before it) combined whith the "free referee" rule of choosing to make bad or good actions. The resultant of the good actions +/- past actions - bad actions will indicate the kind of life (events) you will live further.

I think both. You have to live out your destiny in order to create your future. Each tomorrow is your future, and by seeing each of those tomorrows you are in fact living your destiny.

Friend
Animals do not have any control over creating their future
but
Destiny gives man a framework.... an 'outline'.... destiny is like a long long rope tied to our neck.... we have to work out our life under the given circumstances.... I may not succeed in certain things no matter how hard I try..... maybe I was not 'destined' to succeed in something even if I spend 20 years in doing something
But then, God does not want us to be 'passive receivers'
1---Man is born with Awareness or Consciousness.... God has given him Intellect
2--- He has been given some Free Will.... which gives him the power to Choose....The Power of Discrimination
So man can either leave everything to destiny or accept the given framework and start from there to create as much Beauty and Meaningfulness as he can in his life
We have all heard of Hellen Keller

How about a little of both?
We create our future by our actions, which sets the path for our destiny.

Well it is possible that you chose this life before you came here.
But I also know that my thoughts create my reality.
But it is also possible that there is no linear time in our spiritual world, which would make what you are creating not the future really and the planning of your destiny not in the past.

There is no such thing as destiny. We are all responsible for our own actions. To accept destiny is to accept that we have no free will of our own. If we have no free will then life has no meaning and we are nothing but machines.
