I don't speak for all hackers but I prefer Linux for four reasons:

1. Good driver support for my laptop
2. Open source - I have learned from others code
3. It is more secure then Microsoft's OS
4. All the tools I need/want are included (perl, gcc, nmap, nessus, etc.)

because linux, not windows is the launguage of the net, and it's easier to exploit, hide, spoof ect.. under linux to other systems ( be it windows or otherswise ), there is so much hackware programs written for linux that if you into hacking, linux is your platform of choice
