Do you mean a pet snail like a Giant African snail or Edible snails? They like fresh vegetables such as lettuce, carrot, sunflower and pea seedlings which you can grow on a windowsill, fish pellets and a cuttlefish bone to help them build their shell.
Pest snails that you find in the garden usually eat everything you want to grow and ignore the weeds.

Apart from the entire garden they go mad for Brekkies, yep the dry cat food, beef or chicken flavour as long as it's the meat kind. They will even eat their own kind when the opportunity arises and Brekkies are a good source of calcium for their shells which they seem to somehow know! Fling some brekkies out especially when it's damp outside and they'll come 'galloping'.

aquatic snails eat mainly algae, but also fish food/poo/and basically anything left-over in the tank
outdoor snails eat the same types of stuff, just on the ground/trees, and they love plants
they are like a tiny little cleaning crew

voracious plant eaters (herbivores or macrophytophagous) that eat a wide range of vegetation. Held in captivity, they do well on common vegetables in combination with fish food.
Unfortunately, many species have a great appetite for aquatic vegetation and algae are not their preferred food. In such cases these scavengers can reduce the aquatic vegetation very quickly. They can ruin a beautiful aquarium within days.
Besides vegetables and fish food pellets, brine shrimps and other frozen foods or even dead fish and insects.

They literally eat everything!
That is why, when we prepare them to be cooked, we give them flour or spaghetti, for some days, so they clean their bodies and then we proceed in preparing them for our stomachs!
