I frequently see, in posted questions or answers, sentiments that give the impression that the rest of the world hates Americans.
Why is this? Do they not realize that only half of the votes were for him...and of the half that DID vote for him, very few agree with everything he says or does????

No! We don´t because we read the newspapers and look at the news at TV - we know what happened in your election.

Hi!!
Let me first tell U that I'm an Indian..
A president of a country is believed to be the voice of the country.. that's all. When Bush speaks somthing we consider it as America's voice.

Well.... yes, if U ask me, I did think Bush speaks for all Americans, might be I was wrong then. I didn't hate Americans, nor do i hate any nation, but just felt that it was Bush and not all Americans who is bossy!!!
I DON'T like BUSH, but that doesn't mean I detest all Americans.. I Just find that Bush is really nosy, interferring in other country's matters!!

As for America,
A nice nation, that has both good and bad people just like every other country. It has it's own beauty, it's own charm and it's own style too. Each country's good and so is America!

That's all!

The president and his posse are the representatives of the American people, as agreed by the majority of american people. What the american says and does will be automatically reflected onto the American population because it is the american population who put him there and kept him there!

We do realise that only half of americans voted for him, but the other half aren't seen to be actively aginast him, despite his stupidity and rubbish conservative views. Americans must realsie that they are not just voting for the leader of the american people, but also the leader of the world. We are annoyed and frustrated that internal policies override foreign policies. It is seen as selfish.

In america the democrats are seen as liberals, but in any other country the democrats would be on the conservative side of the bench. Most people outside america would prefer a more liberal america to the benefit of the whole world and this is highly frustrating due to the rigidness of American politics.

So I leave it you.... YOU go out and start organisations etc and start a new liberal party of america that is liberal in it views, not just to the benefit of 'foreigners' but to the benefit of Americans too. America needs liberalism. Do what Americans do best, BELIEVE that you can become what you need to become and BELIEVE you can change the world for the better.

This is a truly unfortunate reality. I live overseas and people can't shake the false impression that I am somehow Bush league even though I clearly state otherwise. You must keep in mind that America's democracy operates in such a free matter that to have such a split, such varying vested interests that actually get heard is virtually null and void in even the most affluent democracies. I can't speak for all, but most I listen to tend to think Bush is our grand ambassador and fail to acknowledge the diversity and complex construct of our political system. Like most things in life, it is simply easier to hate what we don't understand rather than to put for the effort to understand. America and its inherent system of persistence through compassion and diligence is only the root, the base; fighting against the misaligned precepts about on the surface depictions opposed to thinkable, rational, and sensible insight is a huge obstacle that America has and will continue to face. For this, America is truly set apart; and until the world gets it I think the prevailing attitudes will continue to exist.

Well that's the way it works - the President speaks for the USA. Remember his "Political Capital" speech after the 2004 election - voted a second term. To the winner goes the spoils!!

Bush is the epitome of evil, as is his whole family. They have had their peckers in Arab pockets since the late 60's. Bush is the current leader of the regime of liars and military hardware manufacturers that took over this country when they killed Kennedy, and have held it ever since. That bastard isn't smart enough to realize that if the U.S. Government would change it's practices toward the middle east, 9/11 would never have happened..and we wouldn't be hated all over the world right now!! Spread the word.....www.impeachbush.com!!!!!!

In general, no.
But in places like Iran or North Korea, where the government spread all kinds of falsified propoganda, then yes--citizens do think that all americans are just like bush. Why do you think al-Qaeda hates us? It's not cuz Osama has experienced American lifestyle, but because the government said let's take up arms againsts America, they are the devil. He said ok, sounds good, i wanna be a martyr.

Also, consider that alot of the anti-americanism on these things are meant to ignite a response by offending Americans' patriotic sensibilities. And quite often, the offender is normally an American posing.

Naw, they realize that GWB doesn't speak for all of us, I think....I know many people who travel and they don't have any problem: people in other countries say "Americans are good people, but their government is ..not so good". I think they understand the same way their government doesn't speak for each of them, ours doesn't speak for each of us.
