If you want to acheive this on yahoo, all you have to do is to go to the help section on the top right corner and you will see a page with different help options in it.
Once on the help page, select Account configuration option under the heading USING MY YAHOO! MAIL ACCOUNT.
Select the link How do i close my account on the last heading Closing my account.
Although I will advise you to read the services that will be unavailable to you once you have closed your account.

Well you can always just set up another account and ignore the other account. I.E. hotmail, yahoo, earthlink, etc.... you can change your name and not let those who are bothering you know it. You also can just stop using your email. Email is meant to be a convince not a hassle

YAHOO HAS A FEATURE THAT ALLOWS ONE TO DELETE THE ENTIRE ACCOUNT WHICH IS EASY TO USE LOOK FO RN IT

just don't open it for 3 months,,,,,,,,,,,thats all...........u can no more get ur mail id opened................if really u want it no more then just don't open it
