I personally say no, as I find most of them to be funny and entertaining, but Walter Payton and Barry Sanders just handed the ball to the ref after they scored. That is class!
Don't forget, NFL stands for the No Fun League. The NFL has been implementing rules to limit player expression for years. They outlawed skull caps a couple of years ago as well as bandanas. Every player has to have their socks pulled up a certain height and players aren't allowed to celebrate former players on the field.
When Johnny Unitas passed away, the following week, Peyton Manning wanted to wear the high top shoes like Johnny U always wore. This wouldnt give Manning any sort of advantage, but the NFL said no because it didnt fit into the dress code.
Jake Plummer wanted to wear a patch on his jersey and helmet for an entire season for fallen friend and former teammate in college (ASU) and pro (AZ Cardinals) Pat Tillman. The NFL said no because they want to constantly promote the NFL over any individual player.
Ever see a current coach get dressed up and wear a suit on the sideline? Not anymore. 20-30 years ago, coaches were allowed to wear whatever they wanted, but now the coaches have to wear something with their teams emblem on it.
These rulings are the most depressing thing about the NFL.

i think it's ridiculous if anyone on the board has ever played football and actually scored i don't think this rule would pass. it's exciting when you score a touchdown it's not the military let the guys goof off after wards if they want you know without being disrespectful like pointing at the other team and laughing or something but a ball spike or even some theatrics why not? i think it's fun. and even though i'm a dedicated steeler fan i liked Steve smith's celebrations the best.

Indeed Football is 'The Beautiful Game' and Brazil have been the best ambassadors for endorsing that label. I have the 1970 World Cup Final on tape where Brazil demolish Italy 4-1 .... I have to watch it at least once a month, Breathtaking football!!!

I like the celebrations as long as they don't hold the game up for 5 minutes. Do a quick dance or whatever and lets get back to the game.
Where would the fun have been if the Chicago Bears had not been allowed to do the SuperBowl Shuffle? That was entertaining even when one of my teams (Patriots) was on the losing side.

Yes. I pay to see a football game, not TRL in the end zone! A small celebration (high fives, acknowledging fans) is one thing. Having a little routine with other players? Take it to Broadway.
The Super Bowl Shuffle wasn't an end zone celebration. Please don't put that in the same category as the chorus line routines some players like to perform.

I agree. They are grown men out there playing, they shouldn't get their little feelings hurt if someone does a victory dance or something in the end zone. Let them celebrate how they want to as long as it is not vulgar or nasty. I always look forward to see what Steve Smith of the Carolina Panthers would do when he got a touchdown.

I think this rule is dumb too, we are paying these players alot of money to play in the Leagues and we should get all the entertainment that we are paying them for. Also, i think it just give the other team more incentive to step up there game.

Yes, I hate the celebrations.
As Walter Payton used to say - score your touchdown and act you have been there before and toss the ball to the ref or to a fan and go back to work.

The entertainment factor is good, but the rule is needed. These players are going overboard. However, I feel that certain players will be targeted and penalized when it's done. Where do they draw the line?

No !! You can not legislate out ignorance. However, I refuse to pay my money to go to a game and see Terrell Owens whip out his cell phone. That is the kind of ignorance is see everytime they do their dance/high 5's/ball spinning antics in the end zone. Leave them alone and they will self distruct.
