i am using the mirena i have had it since nov 05, since i have had it i have had regular periods just slightly lighter than normal, my period is either due anyday now or i am about a week late i lost track. could it be that i am pregnant? your help would be apprieciated i know more people seem to be getting pregnant on it now. but i guess i am just feeling a bit paranoid i already have 4 kids i know that i was told it is the next best thing to being sterilised and i know that my mum was sterilised and got pregnant!!

According to the mirena website it is 99.9% effective. Your period might be weird due to the BC. I know when I was on the depo I didn't get one at all unless I was under a lot of stress. The site does say shorter and lighter periods.
If you are concerned, call the doc who put you on it and ask if you need to be concerned. Good luck to you!

I am on mirena too and just this month I didn't have a period at all. It is normal to not have a period because since you aren't ovulating there is no thickening of the uterine wall. Since there is no thickening there is no period. I just had a panic attack about this I have two kids and don't want anymore right now. But then again, I just started a new medication and was feeling sick. So no period and feeling sick? went right out and bought a test. came up negative. so I wouldn't worry just make sure you can feel the strings and if not (I can't) go to your doc and have him/her check it for you (I have and my doc said it happens all the time) so try not to worry too much but I know it will be hard. I am thinking of using a spermicide just to help the chances that I won't get preggo. I got mine put in about the same time you did. Maybe it will help the worrying. Good luck

there is only 1 100% way not to get pregnant and that is not to have sex, but who wants to do that right so you should make your partner wear a condom with the 2 of these items you should be 99.9999999999999999999% positivve you will not get pregnant
