It is a bane in Indian society.Contrary to the opinion expressed in the question, it is practised throughout the country, cities are not excepted.The Indian Government has legislation to curb the practice and bring the culprits to book. But the Act is observed is violating than following. The people themselves are to be blamed. It is a vicious circle where headmen, mothers, mothers-in-law have largely contributed. The bureaucrats and police are corroborating. The grooms with desire for booty are equally to be blamed.Universal education, awareness among all the concerned and desisting from greed can help eradicate the evil.

i think they are all money hungry and could give a sh1t less about their daughters...i looks like a flea market not a courting ritual
