try government websites, like usgs.gov and noaa.gov. real time and free? OH, I would go with the government ones, because the taxpayers have already funded the programs and they cant be charged again. This forest service one is updated every 24hr

try searching for MODIS= Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer these GIS have great interactive layers, and lots of help for the beginner.
If you want real time it will cost you more money than you would care to think about. But if your at a university if you ask the Geography dpt they can help you get access through their labs and resources. ( but if you just want to look at your house from space, you can download a free version of google earth) Hope that helps!

SETI at home,you conect to the SETI radiotelescopes an they use you pc to render the data,i think they dont have enough flops for such big amount of info,you can help to discover the extraterestrial life.or you can conect to a meteoroloic satelite,i found a device for 35$ that conects you to a meteo sat,but you shoud construct the antena,an its really big,you can fin the schemes on the net.
