Hard water has a high concentration of dissolved solids, usually Calcium Carbonate (CaCO3). I don't know of any 3 letter abbreviation for it.

If you're thinking of "heavy" water, it consists of deutirium (heavy hydrogen), plus oxygen. Its chemical formula is D2O.
