The nipples actually do have a function - they're smoke capsules. When they pull it out for use, another one pops back out, like a Pez dispenser.

Because Joel Shumacher a freaky gay dude, and maybe he thought that a lot of people who are into watching a grown man in tight rubber might enjoy seeing it. I like men in tight rubber, but not that tight...YUCK.
