My one year old son was banging the keyboard on my laptop and broke the 's' key, causing it to completely come off.

When I use a pen (or the like) to press the space where it was, it works, but I would prefer to have it back the way it was. I still have the 's' key of course

By the way, I have no warranty . Any suggestions out there?

The problem is, you cant just replace one key. If one of your laptop keys falls off or breaks, then you have to replace the ENTIRE keyboard.

Its a pain, and its pricey...I had to replace mine for $100 because my dogs ate my keyboard keys.
If your keys are totally broken, you have no choice but to replace it. If you can just deal with the key hanging on the empty spot, then just leave it on top of it.

if the key just came off and the piece is still on the keyboard then use superglue if that don't work then either get a new computer and have everything transferred or get a new son which is lesser of the two evils...

without warranty its a little hard.
go to a authorized service for your brand of laptop, maybe replace the key.
