Some people treat these messengers as a popularity contest. Like they think that people care if they've got 45,000 "friends" on their buddylist. Right.
I've got a few friends that I've spoken with for almost 6 years. My mom is the same way. It is a real friendship, even if you can't see each other in person. Sometimes people are just there when you need them and vice versa. Sometimes your online friends will be there when your "real-life" friends aren't.

well its important to click with someone and thats
rare .. you could have 40 friends and be close to
at least 2 ..people don't take these net friendships
seriously , you may not be with that person in real time
but there is still emotional bonds and heart to get broken..
so think about that before you brush off a net pal...

Met a gal in 2000, we've been chatting on and off since. People not writing so shortly after meeting means either there wasn't enough to talk about, or no connection between you and them. Or, they weren't really interested in a friend....
