Hi there,

I would recommend you download the Free Trial of Prevx1 that will scan your PC and automatically remove all malware.

Prevx1 has recently been reported to have the strongest protection and removal capabilities of any security program available - therefore this would be your best route to fixing any problems you may have.

Also - Please avoid AVG. I'm getting sick of all the people on here recommending it just because it's free. If you do some quick research on security program protection scores you will find AVG currently offers one of the worst forms of protection available - many newer viruses are sailing straight through their defences. I recently installed Prevx1 on a friend's PC that already had AVG and Prevx went on to remove over 30 viruses AVG had completely missed. Shocking to be honest...

Trend is pretty good, if it keeps freezing I think you have a problem. You might be best going with the Microsoft scan.

Microsoft have two free online scanners that look for malware.

You can also download Microsofts free Windows Defender from the official Microsoft site.
The Windows firewall doesn't stop malware on your pc from dialling out. Either of these firewalls are free for personal use and stop unwanted incoming and outgoing traffic. You choose which programs are
allowed to access the internet. They are both fairly easy to use and updated regularly.

Yahoo also have a free anti-spyware program included in their toolbar. No download necessary (other than the toolbar), no fees, no expiring, it seems quite good to me. It's worked well for me so far.
But if you have a serious problem, I agree with the others, go with a program that you download to your local machine, such as Spybot or AdAware. You'll find descriptions, explanations, ratings and downloads at http://www.download.com/2001-20_4-0.html?tag=hd_ts.

Also Ad-aware and Spybot Seek and Destroy to clean an spyware. Run both once as they have different list of what all they consider Spyware.
