Goodness only knows! The cult of "celebrity" is out of control. Rebecca Loos is a "celebrity" because she slept with a married man. James Hewitt is a "celebrity" because he slept with a married woman. The Big Brother contestants are "celebrities" because they are prepared to make tw*ts of themselves for the nation's entertainment. The WAGS are famous for shopping. Well, I spend HUGE amounts of money in Tesco every week so why don't I get paparazzi waiting outside for me?! It makes me despair for the kids growing up and thinking this is how life really is.

I have no idea! It's really annoyning though!
I think lots of British people are completely obsessed with football in general. The newspapers are full of the stupid World Cup! I'm not interested in what the wives are wearing or Rooney's foot! I have better things to think about!

Us British are obsessed with anything that isnt our business!! Well, at least the newspapers are-me, im British but i dont even buy a newspaper....its always full of the same bull!!
I dont know y they chase the footballers wives or girlfriends around, just to go on about how much money they spend! It was on the news the other evening that one of them managed to spend £900 in the first 20mins of going out shopping.... theres $hit loads going on around the world and local to where u live, that people should know about but the footballers wives etc make headline news...before any other story...yet we hear about a Gucci handbag that Victoria Beckham brought....who really gives a toss about what she brought?!

I'm British and I couldn't care but alot of footballers wives are seen as Trophy Wives.
Look at Wayne Rooney and His Girlfirend! She is really attractive and he looks like Shrek. And some think she is only with him for his money. You very rarely see an ugly footballers wife!

I am From the UK and i could not give a flying wotsit about football, footballers wives or footballers girlfriends.
Considering all that goes on in the news, i think its a bit sad that people do focus so much on these celebs by association, i.e wives and girlfriends.

Its the likes of Now, New, Hello, OK, Closer etc all those magazines think that we are obsessed with WAGs, Kerry Katona and Brangelina and Jen and Vince.
I do sometimes buy these magazines, but I dont particularly go to bed wondering what outfit Coleen wore today. Honest. No really I dont. Haha!

They aren't it just appears that way.
Footballers wives and girlfriends make sure they get in to the papers at every opportunity because they believe they're celebrities themselves.(these women are usually ex-models so they're shallow gold-diggers for a start)
Plus they like make other women green with envy with their 'Look what I've got on my arm' mentality.

Don't know if it's the British public or the media trying their best to 'create' new celebrities. No one I know gives a flying toss about WAGs

I'm certainly not, and neither are any of my friends, personally i just think the WAGs are obssesed with themselves, and because they are British, it makes us all look bad lol.

Most people don't care at all, but the tabloids can't seem to get enough of them.
I don't give a s*** about someone with nothing to do but shop. Where are all the women who are actually achieving something...not just sh*****g someone and then bashing their credit card?
