put simply CRC means bad media. bad media can be only two: physical defects, or bad burn resut. so there. you can copy the data from the source with another media (ie. another CD/DVD). no use on trying to recover it. too hard. for ordinary users like us, chance is > 1 percent. LOL.
PS: i've experience this a lot, especially when reading from old CDs or using old drive. it's not uncommon. so it is better to take precautious step when burning, or treating your CD/DVD (eg. don't overburn, don't touch the surface)
i hope that helps.

Turn over your disk and check the shiny side for scratches.
If the scratches are quite slight you can actually polish them out! Buy a polishing cream from an electronic store or music store. Spread it all over, let it dry then polish it up. Try reading the disk again.
Substitues cream that cost you nothing include your dad's car polishing cream and yes, toothpaste!
If still can't read it's time to install CD/DVD Repair & Data recovery program. If this is not successful the CD or DVD disk is too badly scratched.
TIME TO GIVE UP and throw it in the bin!

crc is used to veryfy the integrity of the data on your media. The error most likely means that you are unable to read data that is valid according to its own crc checksum. If it is failing that either means that the disk is bad or the drive / driver is bad.
