Zuberi, England Scotland and Wales make up Britain, not England. Just thought I'd warn you that there will a few angry Celts out there who will point this out. Wales and Scotland both have their own football teams. I'm Welsh and will forgive you the mistake as I think you're not British.
As to the three lions, it could be something to do with the royal standard?

It is surprising that lions should appear of England's badge even though they are not native to England. Nonetheless, I think England have a cool badge, and the England cricket team's badge is similar to that of the football team.
