my pc runs on windows xp service pack 2.whenever i try to download anything from the internet, the pc shuts down automatically and restarts again.pls what can i do to prevent this?Thanks

upgrade your virus protection program... your machine is infected.

restart ur pc in safe mode with networking
then connect to internet and tryu downloading something

there are signs that ur pc is infected by some virus or spyware
better have it scanned properly from the safe mode or report back to me i'll help u out

This is most likely a spyware problem.
Check if you can run cmd.exe, regedit.exe, msconfig or regedit.exe
If it stills try to shutdown when you try to open, no doubt it is a virus.

Have the very latest MacAfee and if viruses are found clean it.
And after reboot it will work fine. I hope this solves b/c I have had this problem before.

ur pc is infected with Brontok.A virus.... try scanning the pc from MicroTrends site... or re-install ur windows... its a very bloody virus.. usually disables ur antivirus as well..

Roll back your drivers. there is a drivers conflict.
