Cigarettes contain more than 4000 chemical compounds and at least 400 toxic substances.
When you inhale, a cigarette burns at 700°C at the tip and around 60°C in the core. This heat breaks down the tobacco to produce various toxins.
As a cigarette burns, the residues are concentrated towards the butt.
The products that are most damaging are:
* tar, a carcinogen (substance that causes cancer)
* nicotine is addictive and increases cholesterol levels in your body
* carbon monoxide reduces oxygen in the body
* components of the gas and particulate phases cause chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD).
The damage caused by smoking is influenced by:
* the number of cigarettes smoked
* whether the cigarette has a filter
* how the tobacco has been prepared.

In so many ways...
Kind of like dominoes, one thing leads to another. In a nutshell, deposits from cigarettes (such as tar) cause the lungs to lose their elasticity. Because they can't expand and deflate the way they should, the body can't re-oxygenate itself, or it's organs properly. That soon takes it's toll over time, most significantly on the the heart, and the lungs themselves. Some will tell you that if you get cancer, you would have gotten it regardless. But having lung cancer won't necessarily cause heart damage, or at least the kind of damage done by smoking.

Cigarettes destroy your lungs..They contain poisonous gases like carbon(II)oxide that reacts irreversibly with the blood to form a poisonous compund that does not combine with oxygen...Cigarette also causes what we call coronary thrombosis, angina pectoris..it also causes arterioscleriosis..All these diseases are very deadly..the previously mentioned disesases are lungs diseases and the last one a veinal disorder...arterioscleriosis is the tightening of the veins...you know the implication of that?Less flow of blood....I guess you know what that means...The extent of the damage done depends on the internal constitution of your body....the ability to last long on cigarette varies from individual to individual...so, if you smoke,I'd advise you stop it now....cos it can cause sooooooo much harm...

let's start with:
--a cigarette contains and releases 101 different toxic substances. That's 100 more than rat poison.
--substances in cig smoke collect on the tiny hair-like lining in the lungs thereby greatly diminishing the lungs natural disease and infection fighting abilities.

Conventional cigarette smoking harms nearly every organ of the body. I suggest you to quit smoking at the early stages and if unable to quit then switch to electronic cigarettes. They are less harmful and safe.
