I think you are confusing the circuit board on the hard drive with the motherboard. This board is NOT the motherboard. If the hard drive circuit board appears to have a burn mark return it. If the actual motherboard has a burn mark it needs to be investigated.

are you sure that it is the disk? and burn mark in the board would indicate that it might be your motherboard.....
