I was reminded recently of a science fiction story I read once, where a white-dwarf (or somesuch) was fead into a black hole therebye cancelling them both...

How about we take all the crap people (including me!) in here are saying and dump it all into one of them suckers, see what happens then.
If that doesn't do it, it's probably impossible...

A black hole physically gets bigger as it sucks in more matter. I know of no current scientific theory whereby a black hole can attain some maximum mass or volume.
As far as the white dwarf canceling out a black hole, the concept is void of any scientific validity. A white dwarf if just a star, at least a remnant of one, it has no special properties that would interact differently than any other matter interacting with a black hole.

I was always fascinated by black holes. Your question isn't less fascinating, I wish I had a good answer for you, but I'd say "yes" a black hole and a white dwarf could cancel each other, however becoming "full"?! hmmm maybe not!

Black holes nearest Earth are currently being filled with rejected silicone breast implants from the previous century -- which are now approved to be removed from storage -- as well as large barrels of the fat that is sucked out in liposuction procedures. Carefully released unwanted body hair is used to trigger the event horizon; and similarly, cosmetic waxing strips, when properly strung together, can initiate a wormhole.

The only substances known to man that can satisfactorily fill a black hole are Snickers bars. The experiment with Hershey bars just didn't pan out.

it neve can be full because the theory of a black hole is that it goes to another time and place when an object enters it.

yes black holes get full, then they explode and a galaxy is created(this is my theory)
