OK, i know he can send in a decent free kick but so can Gerrard and Lampard and if I took EVERY free kick in a game even I woulld get the odd one right. I think hes a passenger and Gerrard is shattered from carrying him every game.

hello. that is DAVID BECKHAM. not a random guy who kicks a bunch of free kicks. and a free kick is after a foul so he it is better to say he is a master at crossing the ball, corners, and free kicks. besides they have four mid fielders and dont think gerrard or lampard are complaining about seeing david when they look to the right. they all bring eachother up. but beckhams crosses are simply elite. few mids can cross like him and aside from that you dont get a captains band for marrying a spice girl...the guy can flat out play. young or old. he may not score goals from his own half anymore but he found crouchs 6'7" head and offered some promising corners that just didnt find the back of the net. i think you should watch him a bit closer and then you may appreciate what he has to offer

David Beckham is one of the pillars of the English squad and was the architect of the two out of three goals scored so far - an outcome guaranteeing England as one of the 16 teams in the next stage.

His performance wasn't about getting the odds right - it's the measured result of his special talent, big-game experience and intelligent read of the game - not from the elevated view that spectator stands provide... but influencing games at eye-level playing fields. I dread to think of an English team without Beckham.

after all the brilliant crosses yesterday can you still ask that question?

it's not the person, it's the presence. he not only deserves to start, he deserves to be the captain. gerrard's to inconsistent and lampard is just lucky he's at chelsea where there are not many midfield talents.

Heck yeah he does. He's a brilliant passer, kicker, dribbler, shooter, motivator, and leader. He's classy on the field, isn't a ball hog, is more than willing to help the team win by assisting a goal instead of always trying to be the goal scorer. I like the guy and you can tell his teammates like him as well.
