I guess for me, maybe that one second before dying I want to feel or know that I am dying having done something useful. Also, perhaps true happiness comes with understanding the meaning of ones life. That's why I am constantly yearning for meaning in my life.

Is it foolish to follow in the steps of others or not?
You assert it is, but how do you know?
Robert Browning wrote "...and I took the road less travelled by and that made all the difference." Obviously, he was a man. A woman might have asked for directions instead of just guessing.
I hate that verse, but; you are definitely travelling the road less travelled by.
Call us lemings if you must but we travel the road more travelled by, becasue we can learn from oters mistakes in doing so.
Sartre would tell you to accept the prisoners dilemma. If there is a God and you accept him you win, If there isn't you lose nothing. If you deny God and he isn't real then you win, but if He exists you go to hell. You have a 75% chance of being okay if you accept an afterlife exists than if you don't, especially if God in your mind could be any God.
Yes, that is a man made frame work, the reasoning is. What isn't that you could possibly understand? Can you understand a logic that isn't linear or geometric? Is there always an equal sign to an equation? What about less than, or equal to, or approaching but not reaching? Can you understand reasoning with no absolutes, or solve problems with no givens?
If you can then you are amazing, because most people need certainty to judge truth. That is human logic, human reasoning.
"In the end?"
A teacher once bet a friend of mine $50 that he would give my friend a 50 yard head start and still beat him. My friend asked how far the race would be, when it would end. There was no answer.
You draw a line at death that may have no significance. Sure life as you know it becomes death as you know it. Simple. Perhaps too simple.
Put yourself on a nominal plane and your existance exceeds physical limitations. You don't know where the idea of you begins and ends. Perhaps it never does. Perhaps it never has to. An object in motion tends to stay in motion unless acted upon. Same goes for an object at rest. Peraps te idea of you is never acted upon. Physics and metaphysics run hand in hand. Maybe.
You want a justification for living life as you please. You don't need one. Just click your heels three times and you will be in Kansas again , Dorothy. (probably Kansas State Penitentiary).
The rest of the world is going to see to that. Tricky thing about that road less travelled, it is still under construction and the supplies are on this road more travelled.
You don't live in a vacuum. You are not free to do as you please. And on this plane, people will act upon you, so; try not to shorten your stay unless you are certain you are ready for the great unknown. I always loved that oxymoron, the great unknown.

We all want to make a difference during our lives, hopefully for the better. I am not living my life according to someone else's plan. If you are, change it. Life is so unpredictable. It all depends on the choices we make day to day. Death in the end is predictable, but it is only a death of the physical body. The soul will continue.

If you are here, then you were obviously born...and yes you will die. But what you do with all that is between birth and death is up to you. Whether you follow a "framework" or do something different, you were given the gift of life and what you do with it is now in your lap. It is what you make of your journey that will matter to you...but if your days are consumed with the" knowing you will die so why live?" then you are dead inside already.

LIFE is a chance to use the energies that be to take on a 3D form. What you do with the time, in this form, will reveal to god the nature of your energy. Those who live in such a way that is in accordance with the Divine, get to stay for another spell of time, in this form: be it in longevity of ones own self or life in ones offspring. Life is a proving ground, to see what you are made of. So show us what you got !
What happens to these energies after life is the real mystery.

We are all born to die but what you do between these is what counts. Life is an adventure so enjoy the ride!
Rules to Live By:
1. Realize that you are born to die and accept it. Enjoy life while you are here. Life is what it is and not what you want it to be. Do Not fear death, as it will come whenever it comes. Make the most of life and enjoy it.
2. Having sex and kids is not what life is about. What else can you do with your life? Set yourself up toward your goals first and the rest will happen.
3. Do Not be envious of what others have and live within your means.
4. Do Not compare yourself with others. Do your own thing and live life for yourself. There will be a few good friends along the way.
5. Take the opportunities as they come along to make your life the way you want it.
6. Follow your dreams and imagine anything is possible. Remember it is your life and look ahead to your goals. Limitations are set in your mind and you get only what you expect so open your mind and opportunities.
7. Make your own decisions and live with the consequences of them. Take responsibility for your action.
8. Be truthful to yourself always and to others within reason.
9. Be respectful of life and to others especially to spouses, family and good friends.
10. Be aware of what others can and will do to or for you, good and bad.
11. Keep money matters to yourself. Private matters belong closed to others who have no reason to know about them. Don’t trust outside your immediate family member and be cautious of all others.
12. Family, trustworthy friends, a career you like that pays to live as and to do the things you like to do and health are very important to make life enjoyable.
13. Work to get what you want in life and don’t expect others to do it for you. No one owes you anything.
14. Education is a step up in life style and earns the money for doing things. Money is the means for doing what you want to do and live the way you want to not just surviving. Experience and knowing people will open doors.
15. No Not worry about things you have no control over.
16. When you get to end of the life’s road, memories are what you have and materials things mean nothing.
17. Tombstones are for the living, as the dead don’t care. After two generations no one will remember or have memories about you except maybe a picture or two.
18. It is an accident of birth of where a person is born in this world. You are made up of the ancestors before you. Be happy and proud of your accomplishments in life. No Not be afraid of life and enjoy the adventure of life.

Look I agree wid U that d end is predictable & we all will die one day but why shud we be worry bout that day, that day will come anytime. And let me remind U life itself is such a precious gift of GOD that we will have 2 repay his debt by leadind it in a balanced and a gud way such that by providing some joy & happiness 2 others as well as ,at d same time making most of our lives. So there's no point of that end,it was,is & will remain inevitable as it is d rule of GOD but we shud rather focuss on performing our duty rather than interfere in his work by thinking about d end!!!!!!!!!Understand

Well, for me it's the fact that I want to be a good role-model for my kids...I also just try to do the right thing and be a nice person in hopes that maybe someone'll feel my vibe, pass it on to others and make the world a little bit nicer. Maybe if we all did that we could stop our destined fate and have a chance...

to mature and learn is living cause INTERACTION is why we live. to accept death is to accept you don't think you can mature and get a gasp on what other mind's put into this world for you to amuse yourself or explore with. not every one gets the same abilities that's why you need others to help balance out ideas and views.
if you really feel you not a part of this world may i ask you why didn't no one kill you yet. is it because they like you around or like seeing you around or do these people cherish what you bring to their lives. live your destiny and to let you know your destiny is what you make it. like a leaf and it's vains notice how 1 vain can branch off to many others. that's how destiny goes you are the 1 to pick your path and you make your future.
