Yes. Let's say your phone company chages you $11 per month for dial tone plus 6 cents for each call you make. How much will your phone bill be in a given month?
Let y = the amount of your phone bill.
x = the number of calls
c = the fixed constant, $11
m = the "slope" of the line, $.06 per call
Your phone bill is
y = .06x + 11

In the velocity- time graph, velocity is marked in y axis and time is marked in x axis. If the object moves with constant acceleration (like the one falling to the ground) then the line is in the form y = mx +c. Or V = at + U.
In Photo electric emission, the stopping potential is drawn against the frequency. The Y- intercept (c) is used to calculate the work function
The thermo electric power versus temperature is in the form of y = mx + c.
Hooks law states that stress is directly proportional to strain. In this case c = 0.

In the straight line equation: y = mx + c:
'x' and 'y' are the coordinates of the points that satisfy the function and so lie on the straight line graph.
'm' is the slope of the straight line graph, and
'c' is the 'y intercept' of the straight line graph.
slope represents the steepness of a straight line. A horizontal line has slope zero. A 45º line has gradient 1, and a vertical line has infinite slope

I work at a one-hour photo lab. The price we charge the customer consists of two prices(Developing and printing)
For a 24 exposure roll, we charge $3.15 to develop the roll and $0.16 per print. So the prices varies depending on if the customer didn't use the whole roll or were able to print a few extra prints above 24(such as a 27 exposure single-use camera).
So the formula for the price is
price = 0.16*(number of prints) + 3.15

If you want to compare two sets of data that you think affect one another, the best way you try and plot a y=mx+c line through the data spread and compare.
