Is there a scientifically correct name for the hollow near the pelvic region formed by the hip bone?

I know there are names for other "hollows" on the body, including the lip and collar bone ones.

Can anyone help me out on this one?

The correct term for the actual space is the pelvic cavity. If you are referring to the bones, then it is the pelvic girdle.
