My baby has been having a cold for about a month! I'm having a cold which I suspect I caught from him. Could he have caught it from me again? He seemed to have recovered, but then after a few days was back to having a runny rose and a little cough. Has anyone experienced this before? What can I do about this? Should I be worried? (We've seen his doctor twice already. he is on medication for colds and allergies.)

No, it's impossible to catch a cold then recatch it. When you get a cold (virus) your body builds an immunity to it and if you're around someone who has that same virus, you'll be immune and it'll bypass you. I'm sure you've heard that old saying "You can't catch the same cold twice." Bacterial infections, however, are different. Bronchitis, for example, is bacterial and you can get that again. If you have it and pass it on to your mom, then you get well, if she's around you, you could get it again, or, if you're not completely well and don't finish your antibiotics, you can have a relapse.

It's possible, but highly unlikely. "Cold's" are opportunistic infections. Most colds are viral, meaning they can change strands, but once you're infected and have repressed the infection it's highly unlikely you'll catch, pass it on or suffer through it again. Just be safe, and wash hands after everything. And, as far as the medication goes. . . It may be viral, may not be a cold at all, and/or may be bacterical/protozoan/etc. that keeps reoccurring because of a common atmosphere (i.e. dust in home, pathogens on floor or furniture).

Medication isn't always the proper answer. First, find out if it's just a "common cold." Could be something else. . . not to worry.

No you shouldn't worry about that . if you want to be sure you have 2 chance: 1: both of you have a vaccination
2: be far from each other for 2 weeks (if you can)
