You'd get air in your engine oil! Then you'd have to get hold of a sky-hook to pull the bubbles out. >grins<

nothing as the clearance is just the space between 2 parts
if you have dropped a part of the engine into the sump of the engine there is usually nothing to worry about as it just sits in the oil in bottom of the sump
just forget about it
there are plenty of engines with parts in the sump
example last month the bottom half of a dip stick broke off and is in the sump
no worries!!
but you must be sure it made it into the sump

Usually, we use the term "tappet clearances" to refer to the space between the pushrods and the valves. No harm will occur if some extra space suddenly appears in your crankcase.
If, on the other hand, you are referring to the tool usually used to MEASURE tappet clearances, that tool will need to be removed – though I can’t think of how it would have fallen into the crankcase during normal valve adjustment.

Happened to me once...totally wrecked the left thermonuclear drive end and also damaged the inner doofer-widget. Get a new tappit clearance as soon as poss. Halfords sell them for all models- you'll find them in the spaces between the other boxes.
Thanx for a clever question lol.

i'm not to sure about the worst case scenario but you could try using a left handed screw driver or just replace the phalopian tubes around the back - i have a spare set for a mini if you need them ?
