I have heard that St.johns wort is good for when you are feeling down and a bit moody! Has anyone got any feedback for me? I have stopped smoking now for almost 2 weeks and the not having a cigarette is fine but its making me a little bit irritable! Thanks

Yes st johns wart is the real deal. you must try it. Also excersise (aerobics) will also release the endorphins in your brain and enhace your mood tremendously.

I am an alternative medicinal therapist and i can recommend St Johns Wort, it takes a while to get into the system but it does work you can also get Herbal Cigarettes that are not habit forming and do not contain nicotine.
You should also put aromatherapy oils into a warm bath at night Put 3 drops of each of .Sandalwood- Chamomile- Lavender- essential oils into a warm bath. If you can afford it have a theraputic massage

beware of st johns wort if you are on the pill it stops it working, if you are going to go on some thing like that talk to your doc first, i tried it and had a reaction to it it turned me in to a walking zombie try meditation and exercise they give off the bodies own feel good hormones, even a good long walk will do the trick
good luck with the giving up hope you do better that i do, i give up every nite and start again every morning

I have tried St Johns's Wort - it takes some time to work, but really eases anxiety and mild depression - give it a try......

Try Omega-3 fatty acids. I started them on my bipolar son, now he is taking half the amt. of medicine. Also, you may be low on other trace elements, so get a good multivitamin (one without fake-o food dyes, they cause mood swings!)
Also, eliminate MSG (monosodium glutamate) and food dyes will help a lot!

umm an anti depressant isnt going to do anything for irritability. you might wanna try exercise or meditating because its all in your head, its just the habit getting to you. i quit 2 years ago and did a lot of running around and cleaning to get rid of the nervous energy.

I tried many of them; the only things that worked were exercise, a good diet, and refraining from way-too-much of what's not good for us- drink etc.

Try an acupuncture session. You could be surprised at the difference it makes.
