God I hate the BAD answers some people give.
OK.. #1 Just cuz your blead after sex does *not* mean you should run to the doctor. #2 You would obviously know if it was you're period. #3 Have you ever heard of a hormonal imbalance causing you to bleed? I sure haven't. Sometimes it really frustrates me to see the answers some people give.
Anyways...
There are a few things that can cause you to bleed: 1. Not wet enough, try buying some lube such as KY or Astroglide (love the name eh lol). 2. Rougher sex, or rougher sex then you are used to can cause ripping and taring inside which cause bleeding. 3. Is the guy you were having sex with have a larger "soldier"? That'll do it right there. All of these three things cause ripping and taring inside of you which cause you to bleed.
I hope you don't mind if I get a little graphic but I'll tell you something.. I have been with 6 different guys, when I lost my virginity I did not bleed, I also didn't bleed with the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th, nor did I bleed with the 5th (and these are all decently "large" guys, but the 6th (my boyfriend now) I randomly bleed all the time for 2 reasons. One he's "wow large", two, I am never wet enough when we jump into it. Usually this is only minor blood that I only see when I go to the bathroom afterwards and wipe after I pee. But there was one time recently that was just really rough, and I blead so much he thought I was starting my period. But of course I knew I wasn't becase 1. It wasn't that time of the month. 2. It was hurting bad the whole time we were having sex and 3. I definitly wasn't lubricated enough before we started.
So, don't worry, it's completely unnecessary to go to the doctor about something like this unless your bleeding continues for days at a time, and if that's the case, I would be making an appointment ASAP.
Just make sure you are wet enough and if not, buy some lube! :)
Hope this helps.

Perhaps your partner was a bit over-enthusiastic. This happens sometimes - unless you are feeling pain long after you've had sex and the bleeding is not stopping, I don't think it's anything to worry about.
Lube is always worth having close by.

you could have a hormonal imbalance, an internal scratch or something more serious. see a doctor. don't mess about with this. it could be very serious indeed. you should have a smear test asap.
