Easyjet and Ryanair.com are by far the easiest and cheapest way to travel.
I flew from Los Angeles to London, then flew from London to Paris for 19 pounds one way (about $35). Then from Paris I flew to Madrid (27 pounds), and then from Madrid I flew back to London to fly home (27 pounds). Its way cheaper than train and faster too.
The only bad part is you fly to smaller airports and there's a stricter weight requirement on luggage. But if you travel light, which I did, there's no problem!
Give those airlines a try and be flexible
