women and men horking & spitting in the street. public urinating. staring for 5-10 minutes. following foreigners around like deranged stalkers. slurping their food, smacking lips, spitting bones and hard pieces on their own floors. screaming hello in your ear or coming up to you, pointing, and saying: foriegner. taking a dump on the floor in the back of a bus. sales clerks talking on cellphones while you are trying to talk with them. men staring at your penis in at urinals. babies with slit open pant-crotches so they can just piss or sh*t anywhere. filthy toilets. The list goes on and on...

DuMbT, I am not racist, and
I don't care if they build nice buildings, they're still act like primitives. Perhaps 5% of them won't yell into their phone when they're in an elevator, but most of them will do something outright disgusting in your presence.

And you are so much better than they are by stating these things in this crude manner in an open forum?

Do you have the proof to back these allegations up with or is this just your opinion on how things are in China?

I had been working in China for more than 2 years now. To be real honest, all those things you wrote on your question, I have already seen but from what I gathered, China is preparing big time for the 2008 Olympics.

Not only are most public service personnel in Beijing being taught English as early as 2005 but most the English signs they put up are also being checked for the correctness of their spellings and grammars. Besides, the Chinese as a people, are also evolving in the global sense, hence, I believe by 2008, most of the things we now see may not be around so much by then.

Besides, that is JUST the WAY THEY ARE. What rights do we have to judge them with the things they grew up with, e.g. slurping of soup - here they usually say when people loudly slurp their soup, they are showing graciousness to their host / hostess. As much as we want to be judged, why then judge others.

Peace!

If all of whatever you have written are correct, India is almost in the same boat. But statistical facts are that, India and China are becoming developed shortly. India may take some time but certainly China is ahead. Chinese will have to improve. China will have to be world class.

When their leaders are unlearning traditions, culture, methods and governance so fast, people will automatically do all those things. People will unlearn all those bad things. So do not worry, China will do better. China will do best.

Go China!

It's OK; it's OK, they have preferred trade status with the US, that makes them capitalist now. And don't forget they can sent a rocket into outer space and drop a nuke on you. So,anything they do is acceptable. Right? It works for us..........
