If there are beaches in Iraq, and families feel safe enough in the current political climate to allow their children to play in the sand, I'm sure they probably do. Most children all over the world get taught cultural equivalents of fairy tales and end up building sand castles as part of their cognitive development.

What do you pretend, after a traditionally, historically, religiously country like Iraq, turns up side down!
