From what I remember in geometry class, the 4th dimension was simply time. And just like the other three, length, width, and height, it can be measured in various forms - seconds, minutes, hours, etc..

the fourth dimension is time, so look at your watch to see it, actually there are to be 11 dimensions. According to calculations there has to be so many, one of the 11 dimensions is one where we are all (all=matter) connected by strings of some sort and those strings are the base of gravity... (this is one theory I read about)
