Alright let me put it to you this way...when I was afraid of the dark, I used to say: It's not the dark I'm afraid of it's what's IN the dark I'm afraid of. Now anyone could be afraid of the dark a small child or an adult that watches too many crime stories. It's all a about a level of paranoia or the thought of the unknown for some. Honnestly tho a dark pitch black house with no noise, even your very own house, doesn't creep you out a little bit? Honnestly, b/c there has to of been atleast once, or if your me more that one time, when someone has jumped out and scared the hell out of you be it from around a corner or where ever. My point is that thought is always lingering with you when you walk into a dark room or a house for that matter. In other words it goes back to the paranoia aspect. It's different for a small child, some may worry about everything, while others are fearless, all depends on how creative their imagination is really, because they maybe thinking well what monster is lurking around that dark corner tonight. Shall I find out or do I just run to mom and dad. So really it all has to do with basicly your level of fear and honnestly whats on your mind at the time in which you "enter the darkness".

I work nights and become very afraid when working alone. I used to be afraid of the dark and now I sleep in the day and it helps and when I sleep at night on my days off I turn my t.v. on. I just have never liked the dark. I think that it scares me because I can not see anything and to not see scares me.

because they feel threatened of what could be in the darkness since not everything is clearly identified in the dark compared to daytime light. It's just fear of what "could be there" what might jump out. perhaps. And they're not sure how'll they'll handle the situation if something does come out and scares them.

I think this is a very old and basic thing, from all times. In the darkness you are not able to detect enemies or danger, so you are in a vulnerable position.

That's the stuff horror movies are made of, everything comes out in the dark, monsters, cockroaches, rats, even the crack head hiding in the bushes to hit you over the head and rob you! No wonder, darkness is something to fear!

people are not afraid of the darkness. Just as many arent afraid of death. People are afraid of the unknown. Nobody knows for sure what happens after death, and you don't know what is in that darkness. People dont like being out of control of things, and in the darkness, you arent aware of where anything is...

Darkness is nothing but Absence of LIGHT ........
Light is by which everyone can see and in darkness one feel blind and helpless to do anything . Their helplessness leads them to a state of mind where they start feeling scared.
Also , just think do you get scared , if yes then - Why ???????????
