why do i get the feeling the only people who like lyrical ambiguity are the ones who know what ambiguity means?

Ambiguity without being so abstract that no one gets it.

I think it depends what you do with the lyrics you have. Write lyrics to fit the song rather than writing a song to fit some lyrics. The Beatles did quite well with "She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah" and then they turned right around a few years later with "Fool On The Hill."

lyrical ambiguity because you could get slapped in the face in multi-shaped form. not even know it.
