Your skin gets darker because melanin is released as a protective measure, but your hair gets lighter because it is dead, and the UV rays cause it to fade.

We have pigmentation in our hair and skin which is called Melanin.
The suns extreme heat and ultra violet rays fades the pigmentation in the hair and also dries it out. As for our skin (which is the bodys largest organ) and the fact that the human body is a large majority of water means its sensitive and it burns very easily causing us to either tan or go red depending on our skins complexion and the length of time we spend in the suns ultra violent rays.
Even if you are lucky enough to tan rather than go red, too much sun exposure over time dries out our skin and causes wrinkles, sunspots and can cause freckles to turn into melanomas or malignant tumors, all of which cannot be reversed.

It makes your skin darker because it sunburns so you peel (even if you don't see it) and then you have another layer of skin that is darker. It makes your hair lighter because your hair is dead but natural.

buddy!there's a good scientific reason for this !ok!
the skin cells have some phenomenon called melanin formation which is caused when exposed to direct sunlight .
when melanin is formed the skin looks darker .
i don't have any idea whether you're whiteskin or colored dude but you might have seen white people have some colored dots in their skin which is becoz they have relatively less sunlight in their northern hemisphere .those tiny dots in the skin of people(of european origin)are becoz of melanin formation whereras in asian or african the same phenomenon is dense thus colored skin .so discrimination on the basis of skin is superficial .it is all becoz of sun.byeeeeeeeeeeee
i hope i've answered your question and satisfied you if not sorry

must have something to do with our skin being 'Alive' and protecting itself against the sun's rays whereas our hair is 'dead' and therefore gets bleached.
