You must be careful about the encryption in the page where you're sharing your personal info. Don't share ur credit card numbers unless the site's reputed n has 128 or 256 bit encryption!!

Yes as long as a site has an https:// and is a reputable site. Paypal is a way you can use a credit card for a bit more security if a site takes it.

that depends on how secure the site is. Like VeriSign will provide security for on line transactions through credit cards.

i would use them when its thorugh an encrytption and is a trusted site. when it says https in the address bar.
