A palindrome is something that reads the same fowards as it does backwards. for example - radar is a palindrome - if you read it backwards it is the same! A palindrome doesn't always have to be a word - It can be a sentence or phrase. Here - http://www.norvig.com/palindrome.html they are trying to create the worlds longest palindrome!
