This should be simple right?
Don't ask, don't give and if forced to do so, report to the authorities and the justice system will punish the culprits.
But the reality is way too far from the above. How then, can we effectively rectify (I like the word eradicate- for me dowry is a disease)?
1) In this day and age, the bride & her family should stand their ground and say NO to dowry.
2) From the groom & family side, they should really think before asking if not forcing for dowry
3) Effective enforcement of the law by the authorities. Don't "look" the other way when injustice is happening right in front of your eyes.
4) Finally everyone should practice what they preach. It's easy to point a finger at someone else or making movies that preach no-dowry messages but it should be applicable to themselves who may be hypocritical.

This is difficult when your ask the question at large. Here in the USA we haven't had Dowry for many generation, so you must ask this question of another website. IT'S SOMETHING LIKE: Indianpersonols.com.

Firstly, we should stop giving dowry to our girls in the family, coz when we give we also expect the same frm others.
