Public relations is used as tool used by companies today to win acceptance from the stakeholders (customers, suppliers, local government, etc.) in the community in which it operates. A company with an effective PR strategy can motivate the press to speak positively about its vision, mission and goals. People are more likely to believe praise for the company if it comes from the press. Self-promotion just isn't doing it anymore.

Thus, PR's role in image-making is to convey, through credible third-party channels, positive statements to people outside the company and to other organizations in the community so that these stakeholders bear positive ideas about the company.

In a nutshell, PR can be used to portray the company as a responsible corporate citizen.

Public relations plays a huge role in the image of an organization. Marketers use PR not only to maintain a positive image but also to educate the public about the company's goals and objectives, introduce new products, and help support the sales effort. PR helps an organization communicate with its customers, suppliers, stockholders, and the community in which it operates. A solid public relations program can generate favorable publicity.

Your job as public relations is to tell nothing except things that will bring good advertising for who ever you work for. Unless it is an issue that you have to answer, that is when you find out how well you can do your job... Best Wishes!!
